Two search engines offering such services are  GoodSearch,  which funnels 50 percent of its ad-generated revenue to various nonprofits each time one of their supporters types in a new search term, and the  Google Grants  program which allows nonprofits to spread their messages to a wider audience by providing them with free advertisements that show up alongside Google search results. About GoodSearch  Search Engine. GoodSearch sponsored links, served up by Yahoo, generate revenue in the same manner as ads featured on other search engines, GoodSearch donates half of this money to user-specified nonprofits. Leave No Child Inside Committee for Green Foothills cited in "Last Child in the Woods" The CGF got a brief mention in Last Child in the Woods, an important book about how children have been losing their connection to nature, particularly the opportunity for unstructured play. Environmental attorney Brian Schmidt has an idea that just might help. Schmidt is an advocate with the Committee for Green Foothills, an organization working to protect local natural environments in the South San Francisco Bay Area. To liberate natural play, he suggests the creation of what he calls a Leave No Child Inside Legal Defense Fund  a foundation that would pay the legal defense costs of select institutions and individuals who encourage children to go outdoors but are then hit with frivolous lawsuits. Marine Resources The Marine Mammal Center  is a nonprofit organization that rescues, rehabilitates and releases injured, sick and orphaned marine mammals (seals, sea lions, dolphins, porpoises, whales and sea otters) along a 600 mile stretch of California coastline, from Mendocino County through San Luis Obispo County. Before The Center was established, stranded marine mammals were either left to die or were destroyed as threats to public health. Originally founded in 1975 by three volunteers, The Center now relies heavily on a dynamic  volunteer work force  of over 800 individuals from Mendocino through San Luis Obispo counties.
